Basically I went into the full configuration mode where it gives you a picture of the full keyboard, pressed buttons on my remote, and then mapped them to Plex's keyboard shortcuts (list here: ) I went into the activity, and made sure that all the buttons I wanted to use on my remote were mapped to the fake Plex device (play, pause, arrows, OK, fast forward, rewind, etc.).

The Harmony software is obviously really confused by the presence of two TVs in an activity. I believe I picked a Panasonic TV, because TV remotes generally have a ton of buttons (play, pause, ff, rw, etc.).Īdded a Plex activity to the Harmony setup, where the devices were my actual physical TV, my AV receiver, and my fake TV posing as a plex device. In the Android app, click on the menu button in the upper left-hand corner, select Harmony Setup > Sync > Sync Now (MyHarmony does not give correct instructions). The goal is to make sure the remote send an IR signal and it doesn't do something else to your TV or Receiver at the same time (for example, my Plex menu button opened my TV menu as well until I fixed it). Go through the rest of the options using "Next" until you get to "Which device do you use to change channels" and select "Flirc Media Player". Check "Flirc Media Player" to add it as a device for this activity. In MyHarmony, click on Activities, click on your Watch Plex activity (or whatever you call your Plex-related activity). This provides the basic button functionality for your Flirc it doesn't matter that it's not actually for Plex. MyHarmony should add a device called Flirc Media Player.

Plug in Flirc on your PC (make sure the IR element has reasonable line-of-sight to receive signal) and wait for drivers to install.Ĭlick on File > Advanced > Force FW Upgrade (this upgrades to the latest firmware.Ĭlick on Devices > Add Device > type Flirc in the first entry and XBMC in the second.

Install the latest Flirc software on your computer. I recommend installing the Harmony app on your phone to sync button settings and such, as it's easier than plugging the hub into your computer. It also assumes you have a PC, TV, and audio receiver. This assumes you already have an Activity setup in the MyHarmony software to turn on your TV, set the right input, and control surround receiver, etc). Basic functionality includes direction, select, context menu, Play/Pause, FF, RW, Skip Ahead, Skip Back, Stop, and Back Button. My intent was to create a basic configuration that will allow you to use the Harmony Smart Control simple remote to control Plex. I'm listing the steps I took for future generations :)
